Jeremy Renner was born in Modesto, California, to Valery and Lee Renner, who ran a bowling alley. He was the eldest of 6 children and attended Beyer High School followed by Modesto Junior College where he studied computer science, psychology and criminology among other things before finally making it to the theater department.

Jeremy’s first foray into acting was a role play for the local police acadmey where he earned $50 for playing a domestic violence perpetrator during his second year at college. After this he left college to to join the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, finally relcoating to Los Angeles in 1993 where he initially concentrated on theatre until he landed his first film role in 1985’s Senior Trip. He continued to work on screen landing commercials and guest spots, including portraying Penn in season one of Buffy spin-off, Angel.

His big break came when he landed the titular role of Dahmer in the 2002 critically acclaimed film portraying the infamous serial killer.

His film work escalated after this success and he soon landed a part in S.W.A.T alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrel, which was followed by a steady stream of movie work including 28 Weeks Later, and an Academy Award Nominated performance as Staff Sergeant William James in The Hurt Locker.

He followed this with a starring role in TV Series The Unusuals before landing the part of Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which has seen him appear in 5 movies staring with an uncredited cameo appearance in Thor and culminating in Avengers: Endgame. His character also has his own series in pre-production for Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+ and an appearance as voicing his character in What If…?

When not working, Jeremy keeps himself busy renovating and restoring rundown iconic Hollywood homes and is writing and recording music. He currently has a new EP out, The Medicine which is available on all streaming services.


Jeremy is a United Nations Goodwill Peace Ambassador and has visited Afghanistan to raise awareness of mine-clearing efforts.

Jeremy is on the Honorary Board of TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors), which offers compassionate care for those who have lost family who were serving in the Armed Forces.

Has studied Arnis and Muay Thai martial arts.
