Rob DesHotel Dies Aged 52

Rob DesHotel who served as story editor and executive story editor on Buffy for its first two seasons, has died from a suspected heart attack, aged 52.

Rob graduated from Webster University in 1988 with a degree in media communications.  He started working as a writers’ assistant on NBC soap, Santa Barbara.  As a full time writer he worked for Nickelodeon on The Adventures of Pete and Pete which is what landed him a meeting with Joss Whedon and his job as story editor on Buffy.

Rob cited the hardest player to write as Angel and his favourite was Xander.

After leaving Buffy,  Rob went on to produce such shows as That ’70s Show and True Blood, and most recently worked on Man With a Plan.

He leaves behind a wife and two children.

  1. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rob’s. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my favourite show. I also loved True Blood as well. 52 is far too young.
