IGN: Serenity Gets Another Comic Book Sequel

COMIC-CON 2016: SERENITY GETS ANOTHER COMIC BOOK SEQUEL

The crew of Serenity still have a job to do.

BY JESSE SCHEDEEN – If you’ve been pining for more adventures set in the Firefly universe, Dark Horse Comics has you covered. Today the publisher announced,(via Entertainment Weekly) that they’ll be debuting a new Serenity mini-series this fall.

Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse is a six-issue mini-series written by Chris Roberson and drawn by Georges Jeanty (who also drew the previous series, Serenity: Leaves on the Wind)

Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse

This new series picks up about 18 months after the events of Leaves on the Wind. “The characters have been busy in the meantime.” Robertson told EW. “they’re just wrapping up a job when they get a call from an old friend who is in desperate need of their help, and things get complicated pretty quickly.”

Roberson also teased that River Tam, now the pilot of the Serenity in the wake of Wash’s death, will play a central role in this story. “She’s really come into her own as the pilot of Serenity, for one thing, but now that Zoe’s daughter Emma is toddling around on her own by this point, River is always on hand to help look after her as well. But the Alliance is still hunting for River, which is going to continue to put the rest of the crew in the corsshairs.”

Serenity: No Power in the 'Verse

Look for Serenity: No Power in the ‘Verse #1 to be released on October 26. That’s not the only Joss Whedon franchise to be returning at Dark Horse this fall. Yesterday we learned that the publisher will be kicked off Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 11 in November.
