Laura Donnelly has been cast as the lead role in Joss Whedon’s new series for HBO, The Nevers. Laura will play Amelia True “the most reckless, impulsive, emotionally damaged her of her time. A menace to stuffy Victorian society, she would die for the cause and kill for a drink.”
Speaking of the casting Joss said, “Laura Donnelly has charisma, wisdom and an anarchic precision that not only captures Amelia but defines her. She’s fierce and she’s funny – and I need both for the journey ahead.”
Laura is from Northern Ireland and has had recurring roles in Hex and Merlin, more recently she appeared in mini-series Beowolf: Return to the Shieldlands and Outlander and can be seen in the forthcoming Tolkien.
Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie will be joining Bernie Caulfield as executive producers on The Nevers which is set to begin filming in London this summer.
