In honor of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s impeding finale, Looper talked with Wen about her time on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as some of the other roles that made her a certified Disney legend, and learned what her favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. fight scene is, what her appearance on The Mandalorian means to her, who she’d liked to see May team up with if the agent ever makes her way into the movies, and much, much more.

I talked about being blessed with someone like Gareth Jones, but Joss Whedon is a whole other type of blessing, but one which I’m very grateful to be able to experience. His mind is something extraordinary, and I’m in awe of it, with his creativity, energy, inquisitiveness and humility, all mixed in one. The man wields immense power intellectually and as a director, and yet hes the most humble, soft-spoken and self-deprecating person ion the set. I have a lot of love for Joss.

For Clark Gregg, Agent Phil Coulson has been the character who just won’t die – literally. The beloved SHIELD agent was killed off in Marvel Studios’ “The Avengers,” only to be resurrected a year later on “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” on ABC. Then Coulson died again at the end of Season 5, only to return once more in Season 7 – which premieres May 27 – as a Life Model Decoy (Marvel-speak for advanced robot).

“This is the most intense film – physically and emotionally – that I’ve ever done but it is also the most rewarding because it felt like we were achieving something special.

“Even though I was exhausted at the end of every day, there was a real sense of accomplishment.”
