12 January 2010: Twilight Revealed (no spoilers below, but spoilers in the linked article)

Buffy: Season Eight has been turned into a motion comic (episode one of which is now available on iTunes in the US) and the DVD and Blu Ray is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com priced at $24.49.

We've held off on this story that has been breaking over the last couple of days until we had some clear official word as to what had really happened. Also we didn't want to risk spoiling those who had managed to avoid the whole thing.

On Friday 8th January 2010, the Dark Horse solicitations for April were published, among them the covers for Buffy: Season Eight Issue #34, with pictures of Twilight unmasked on both covers. The news quickly spread via Whedonesque and other sites among speculation that it was an elaborate hoax, even though Dark Horse Buffy Season Eight Editor, Scott Allie confirmed that the covers were relased accidentally and the reveal was true. Yesterday Dark Horse editor Scott Allie posted on the Dark Horse Buffy Zone to explain just what had gone wrong and their decision to confirm the spoiler.

We won't post the full explanation here, but you can read it at www.darkhorse.com/zones/buffy.

The first part of the article does not contain any spoilers, but there are spoilers in the article that are well-warned.

We do have the covers to Issue #34, but we are not going to add them to the Buffy Season Eight Screencaps Page until after Issue #33 (which contains the Twilight reveal) has been released.
