Fillion’s masked mercenary is an oddity even inside the stranger-makes-you-stronger world of The Suicide Squad, DC Comics’ most exuberantly balls-to-the-wall superhero blockbuster yet (and a quasi-sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad).

As T.D.K., who has the strange ability to detach his limbs and control them from afar, Fillion commits to a tongue-in-cheek riff on Arm-Fall-Off-Boy (an honest-to-goodness comic-book character who debuted in Secret Origins #46, in 1989). As this weird hero dodges bullets along a South American shoreline, Fillion says all the sand offered him some uncomfortable realism to offset the manufactured mayhem.

“I was offered the part on Supernatural in March of 2012, I think, and I was in the middle of launching a company – a huge company with YouTube, so I wasn’t even thinking about jobs at the time,” Day told IGN about her invite to the franchise. “But when I read the script, I was like, ‘Oh my God! This character’s incredible,’ You don’t see a character like this come along every day. it is just so special, so up my ally.”

“Visibility equals possibility for me,” Day tells the Hollywood Reporter, “so you never know when you’ll stumble upon someone who really inspires you t take a leap in designing a board game or becoming a voiceover artist – it’s so important to be exposed to it, because often ideas don’t occurs to us as people unless we sense the possibility of it.”
